Verena's Brewing A&S 50 Challenge

This is part of the A&S 50 Challenge. For more information please visit the About the A&S 50 Challenge Page or the Official A&S 50 Challenge Website

This past spring, I was shown the wonders of Brewing. After making a Heizenweizen (which we will be enjoying out of the Keg soon). I have learned that I love brewing!

After steeping the grains, I watched as my brewing BF went to throw away a large quantity of grains. Now, in mind, I could not imagine a 16th century housewife throwing a way such a larger quality of grains. Though they have already been used for brewing, they still have to be good for something.

Hence the beginning of this challenge.

It is my opinion that Medieval/Renaissance people were probably a whole lot more thrifty then modern day people. One would just have to look at Haggis, to see how they tried to use every part of an animal, plant, ext.

My goal is to try to find 50 things to make with recycled period brewing materials including the yeast, the grains, the hops, and the liquids (finished Beer)

As of right now, I will not be putting the class handouts online, however I will be posting the items I have learned and the progress of the classes. If you have an event where you would like to have one of these classes taught, simply email me. If it is in my power to make it, I will.
